The Department of Pharmacy Practice in collaboration with Pharmacy Education Unit, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “Rheumatic Heart Disease” on 14th February 2018 at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. Mr. Tapan Kumar Shah, Country Head, Clinical Operations, AstraZeneca Pharma India Pvt Ltd, Bangalore delivered the guest lecture. During his lecture, Mr. Tapan explained about the epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of Rheumatic Heart Disease. He mentioned that though the prevalence of Rheumatic Heat Disease is low compared to other cardiovascular diseases, it is very important to have an understanding about this condition as it is an endemic disease in India and mortality rate is high. Also, he highlighted that early diagnosis and treatment of Rheumatic Fever is important step in the management of rheumatic heart disease. Fifth year Pharm.D students attended this lecture and gained very good understanding about the Rheumatic Heart Disease.
