The Second Interprofessional Education for the year 2018-2019 was held on 12th September 2018 at Lecture Hall No 1 in JSS Hospital Mysore. The session was attended by 8th term Medical Students, Pharm.D interns, and 1St M Pharm Pharmacy Practice students. The topic chosen for discussion was “Hyperthyroidism”. 8th Term Medical students presented on classification, etiology, pathophysiology and management of hyperthyroidism. Management of hyperthyroidism in special population was also discussed. The Students of Pharmacy spoke about Drug induced Hyperthyroidism and its management, and Select recommendations made by American Thyroid Association for managing Hyperthyroidism. All the presentations was facilitated by Dr.Savitha V, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, Dr Deepak Naik, Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery, Dr Pratap T, Associate Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Dr.UR Rakshith Lecturer from Department of Clinical Pharmacy. Dr Savitha pointed out the importance of diagnostic tests in Hyperthyroidism. Dr Pratap added the importance of monitoring TSH levels in pregnancy. Dr Deepak Naik enumerated the criteria for patients to undergo thyroidectomy failing treatment with antithyroid drugs. The discussion was followed by summarizing the key points.
