Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Program on Patient Medication Counselling

The Department of Pharmacy Practice organised a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Program on ‘Patient Medication Counselling’ for Practicing Pharmacists of Mysore District on 16th February 2018 at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. The objective of the program was to train the practicing pharmacist on patient medication counselling including communication skills required for effective patient counselling. The program was inaugurated by Mr. Shiva Kumar, Deputy Drug Controller, Mysore Division. Dr. T. M. Pramod Kumar, Principal, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, Dr. Mohammed Salahuddin, Principal Farooqia College of Pharmacy, Mysore, Dr. Hanumanthachar Joshi, Principal, Sarada Villas College of Pharmacy, Mysuru and Mr. Kumaraswamy, President & Mr. Amanullaa Khan, Secretary, Mysore District Druggists & Chemists Association, Mysuru were present during the inauguration of CPD program. During the session, Mrs. Shilpa Palaksha, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice delivered a talk on ‘Patient Medication Counselling’ and Mrs. R.S. Savitha, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice delivered a talk on ‘Communication Skills in Patient Counselling’. Following which Mr. M S Srikanth & Mr. S Balaji discussed on few case studies on patient medication counselling. About 39 practicing pharmacists from various parts of Mysuru District attended the workshop. During the program, both pre and post test was conducted to assess the level of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) of practicing pharmacist. Also, at the end of the program, feedback was sought from the participants. And at the end of the session, certificate was distributed to all the participants.
