Help in curricular reformation to match the international standars with atmost emphasis on evidence based medicine and give imporetance to medical ethics.Help the Medical education unit to upgrade and impliment the CBME syllabus of NMC for UG program

    Hi! My first objective is to be an inspiring teacher who would be able to motivate students to the subject of Biochemistry. My passion for medical education started with a tryst of bringing out a practical manual. This gave me an impetus to bring change in the delivery of medical education and one of the best things to happen at the same time was getting selected to FAIMER fellowship. This fellowship exposed me to the various facets of medical education including design, delivery, and assessment. Since then I have also been a part of the Medical Education Unit (MEU) of JSS Medical College.

    The MEU and Biochemistry departments of our institution have given me enough freedom to convert my thoughts into actions and many new innovations have been brought in the teaching-learning process. I look forward to pushing the momentum further in one focused direction so that our MEU will be recognized as a center of excellence in one particular aspect of medical education.

    I`m Dr.Kiran H.S, Professor & Physician in the department of Internal Medicine. As a student & as a teacher, I have always felt the need of a formal program for medical educators. I believe that a good teacher is made, not born & teaching is a ‘sacred’ neuron/synapse modifying process. My beliefs were reinforced after I published my research work titled "DREEM comes true: Students` perceptions of Educational environment in an Indian Medical School". My strong urge to excel as a teacher made me complete a Diploma in teaching skills & Pedagogy (PGDTSP) with Distinction and FAIMER fellowship. Being a member of MEU as one of the representatives from clinical side, I have a strong desire for innovations in medical education including clinical teaching and my project for FAIMER fellowship was in that direction. Contrary to the proverb, I believe that not only we can lead a horse to water, but can make him drink too if we succeed in making him thirsty !!.

    I believe in the concept of MEU developing as a `think tank`. Looking forward to my humble contributions to the teaching-learning process , MEU & its innovative programs and my own lifelong learning.

    I have keen interest in initiating training courses for Dermatology post graduates in the field of Dermatosurgery and aesthetics.Also I intend to popularise Dermatology among UG students by conducting quiz,debates etc. Being in MEU , I am interested to learn more about Medical education and implement the knowledge gained in teaching students. I want to be an inspiring teacher and in the process of becoming one, I would want to improvise my knowledge and gain skills from my teachers.
